Schools linking at Dixons Music Primary
At Dixons Music Primary, we are proud to participate in the Schools Linking programme, a thoughtfully planned, year-long initiative that brings together two classes from different schools. This programme encourages students from a variety of social, ethnic, faith, and geographical backgrounds to meet, learn, and grow together.
Why Schools Linking matters
Schools Linking helps children:
- Explore and understand their own identity
- Become comfortable with difference
- Build meaningful connections within their local community
Our Year 5 students currently take part in this inspiring programme, developing key life skills such as empathy, respect, resilience, communication, and critical thinking. Children gain confidence in meeting new people and feel more connected to their peers and the wider community.
Evidence-based impact
Schools Linking is grounded in research and designed by teachers to support the curriculum while being enjoyable and memorable for pupils. A recent government-commissioned evaluation found that children who participate in Schools Linking:
- Show increased interest in other cultures
- Develop confidence in social mixing
- Gain awareness and understanding of people from different backgrounds
Our reach
The Schools Linking programme currently operates in 25 local authority areas and works with a wide range of schools, including primary, secondary, and special schools.
