Admissions

Reception intake for September 2022

Parents can apply for a place at the Academy by naming it as a preference on the local authorities’ Common Application Form (CAF). You will receive information about applying from your child's nursery, pre-school setting, or your local authority (council), in November 2021. If you do not receive this information, please contact your local authority’s admissions department.

More information about the primary school application process will be available on the following webpage from mid-November: https://www.bradford.gov.uk/education-and-skills/school-admissions/apply-for-a-place-at-one-of-bradford-districts-schools/

The Academy receives many more applications than there are places available. Places will be filled in line with the oversubscription criteria stated in the Admissions and Appeals Policy (available from the Downloads section below). Below is a chart showing the number of applications there were last year and how many places were allocated in each criteria. Please note that this Academy does not allocate places based on the distance a child lives from the Academy.

Music specialism

There are six places (10% of our intake) available each year for children who demonstrate a particular aptitude for music.

These places are aimed at those children who demonstrate a gifted musical aptitude and children will be required to actively participate in the musical workshop in order to be considered for a place.

To apply for one of these places, parents must complete the Supplementary Form and return it to the Academy by the deadline.

All applicants by the advertised deadline will be required to attend a workshop during week commencing 6 December in order to be considered for one of these places.

Children who are unsuccessful in gaining a music specialist place will still be considered for one of the remaining places, along with all other applicants.

If you wish to apply for your child to be considered for one of these places, you should complete the Supplementary Form which can be found in the Downloads section below. Paper forms can also be requested by e-mailing: admissions@dixonsta.com or by telephoning Admissions on 01274 423134 or 01274 423127

Exceptional medical or social need

If you are applying for a place at the Academy under the 'Exceptional medical or social need' or 'Children of staff' oversubscription criteria, please follow the instructions in the Admissions guidance document, which can be found in the Downloads section below.

In-Year admissions

Dixons Music Primary is a very popular school and, consequently, a vacancy is only likely to occur if a child leaves the year group, which does not happen very often.

If a vacancy does occur, we will look at the waiting list for that year group and the random allocation process will be run. Children will be prioritised in accordance with the oversubscription criteria (see In-Year Guidance document in the Downloads section below). We send this list to the local authority and they then allocate the place in the order of the waiting list and in line with parental preference (as specified on the ICAF).

Should you wish to add your child to the waiting list, please telephone or write to Admissions via e-mail or letter (contact details are given below) with the following information; you may also wish to include the reason for application. A written confirmation will be sent to you to advise what the current situation is.

Information required:

  • Child’s full name, date of birth, present school and home address
  • Name of parent/carer
  • Address of parent/carer, if different to the child's address
  • Contact telephone number

E-mail: admissions@dixonsta.com

Telephone: 01274 423127 or 01274 423134
