Nicola

Vice Principal

Nicola was the first teacher at Dixons Music Primary when the academy opened in September 2012, having previously been a student at Dixons City.

After graduating from the University of Nottingham with a 2:1 BA (Hons) degree in Music in 2010, Nicola then completed a Montessori Certificate in Early Years Education in 2011. Nicola graduated from the Institute of Education in 2012 with a Primary PGCE in Early Years and Key Stage 1 including where she specialised in music.

She has been heavily involved in the implementation of the Read Write Inc. schemes as literacy lead at the academy, which formed part of her NPQML qualification in 2014.

In 2016, Nicola was appointed as Assistant Principal with responsibility for whole academy literacy as well as teaching and learning in key stage two. Within this role she has continued to develop and refine the teaching of literacy across the academy. She has played a key role in launching Doug Lemov’s Reading Reconsidered instruction programme and has successfully improved standards in reading across the academy.

Currently, Nicola is developing and refining the KS2 curriculum to ensure all children receive a broad, balanced education to enable them master the skills needed to succeed.
